What is a private health information exchange"?
Well, I'm just going to provide the short answer assuming that you know what a health information exchange" or HIE is. HIE and private HIE are really not that different in terms of functionalities and the benefits that comes with being able to access and share information between all the participants in the exchange. Notice I said "participants" versus "stake holders" and this is where the key difference is. With a private HIE, there's only one stakeholder and that stake holder is the primary supporter with a clearly recognized ROI. There're obviously fundamental differences in why a public HIE versus a private HIE but if the objectives are to share information and ultimately provide better care (and save billions in the process), the differences might start to blurr...
You're obviously welcome to look at our website (www.accenx.com) to see a more detailed description on private HIE and I certainly welcome your thoughts.
